Q: Why do I need an International cell phone?
U.S. cell phones use a different technology than that used in Europe, Asia and other parts of the world. U.S. phones will not work on these systems. International phones will not work on North American systems.
Q: Where do the International cell phones work?
Phones are available for use in more than 150 countries, including:
- All countries in Europe including Russia
- Most of Asia including Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore and India
- Australia and New Zealand
- Israel, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and other areas of the Middle East
- South Africa
- Mexico, Chile and Venezuela
- The Caribbean
Satellite phones are available for travelers on cruise ships or in remote areas. The phones can make or receive calls from any latitude or longitude, and are much cheaper than ship-to-shore calls.
Q: What is the rental fee?
The basic rental fee for most areas of the world is $8 per day or $99 per month. Airtime is extra. Special package rates are available.
Q: What are the call charges?
Airtime charges vary from country to country. Typically, charges are comparable to using a calling card and substantially less expensive than using a hotel phone. Country rates will be furnished to you when you reserve the phone.
Q: How and when will I be billed?
A credit card authorization will be processed at the time of your rental in an amount equal to the value of the equipment being shipped to you. A record of actual airtime use is generated approximately four to six weeks after your return. Adjusted charges are placed on your credit card and a detailed billing is sent to you.
Q: What features are included on the phone?
The phones include voice mail, caller ID and long life batteries, along with easy to understand instructions for use.
Q: What is included in the phone kit?
The phone is fully accessorized. All rentals include the phone, a long life lithium battery, a belt clip, a rapid charger (including wall outlet adaptors for any country), and a car lighter adaptor, all housed in a compact carrying case.
Q: How do I obtain/return the phone?
The phone will be delivered to you prior to your trip. Each kit includes a pre-addressed Fed Ex return envelope to return the phone at the end of your trip.
Q: What if I have questions or problems operating the phone?
Customer Service is available 24 hours a day, 7days a week simply by calling 877-746-6351. If the phone stops working, call Customer Service and a replacement will be sent via overnight delivery.
